Eight years ago, God provided an opportunity for me to work from home as a freelance writer because my husband had to move a lot in his construction job. No matter where we lived — which sometimes even meant motels in between moves — I could work if I had computer access. As a thanksgiving to God, I promised to tithe my writing day to Him by volunteering to write for ministries each morning before I wrote for my paying clients. One of the ministries was Power to Change.
I felt God calling me to continue to write voluntarily for the devotional websites, and it was a joy to do that. A desire in my heart grew to only write faith-based works, but I didn’t know how I could make an income at it. Writing Christian novels is great and I love it, but not too many authors can pay the bills when their royalties these days are about 15 cents a book based on 99 cent ebooks. I kept praying for God to provide a way, especially after I became a widow and didn’t have my husband’s income to rely upon.
God has now granted my heart’s desire by allowing me to come on staff to write and edit devotionals and articles for Power to Change’s two websites, The Life and Issues I Face. These devotionals and articles not only minister to people but encourage them to connect with confidential mentors who help them journey around life’s bumps and potholes. Our team of over 1000 online mentors point the way to Jesus, whether they are speaking to struggling Christians or to non-Christians facing challenging issues in life.
Through prayer and financial support, I can continue this vital ministry of reaching people all over the world through digital strategies. I am humbled and honored to serve Him in this capacity, because, thanks to the Internet, the Great Commission to go to all nations and preach the gospel is more possible today than perhaps ever before in history.
Would you prayerfully consider becoming a prayer and financial partner in this ministry?
P.S. — Of course, if you like to read clean, faith-based fiction, you can preview my novels at juliebcosgrove.com
